Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) has been awarded Second Place in the Large Project Category of RCI’s 2017 Document Competition for design documents prepared for the replacement of the main roofs at the Park 1500 Lofts. The Park 1500 Lofts, located in Chicago, Illinois, is a residential community consisting of 326 units grouped in 3 buildings.
The award-winning project posed many challenges, including the design of complex and numerous roof penetrations with multiple electrical and mechanical penetrations, and of roof deck supports and fencing that met building code. Extensive coordination with facade and parapet wall repairs at two of the buildings was also critical. BTC provided bidding assistance and performed field observation services and contract administration during the construction phase when its expertise was called upon to resolve unanticipated field conditions, including roof related masonry deficiencies.
Mr. Charles Sietmann of BTC was the lead specialist for the project and coordinated the preparation of the repair documents.
BTC’s award-wining entry was on display March 18 and 19, 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center during the 32nd RCI International Convention and Trade Show in Anaheim, California.
