Continuing his ongoing commitment to the Illinois Library Association (ILA), Building Technology Consultants, Inc. (BTC) Principal, Kami Farahmandpour, will be a participant on a discussion panel during ILA’s Annual Conference to be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center from October 18-20, 2016 in Rosemont, Illinois.
The conference panel will include several library directors and will discuss maintenance that can save a library money if done properly and on a schedule. Attendees will learn the differences between routine, short-term, and long-term repairs; establishing timelines for maintenance and repair needs; trade-offs between preventive maintenance and long-term problems; prioritizing needs and understanding documentation, including drawings, warranties, and operating manuals. Attendees will walk away with a maintenance checklist and a typical inventory of building systems that require repairs and maintenance to take back to their libraries and begin the process of getting their library buildings in order.
Joining Kami on the panel will be Betsy Adamowski, Director of the Wheaton Public Library; Dawn Bussey, Director of the Glen Ellyn Public Library; David Seleb, Executive Director of the Oak Park Public Library; and Alex Todd, Executive Director of the Prospect Heights Public Library District.
